Every time I hear someone apologize for loving sweet wines I cringe. Why have we taught ourselves to believe that sweet = plonk? Sweet wines are among the most rare and prized wines in the world and you are not stupid for liking them too. At LFC we put some great Riesling grapes to the test to make a beautiful sweet wine for you; sweet wine drinkers deserve quality too. These grapes were picked on October 30 from the Longcore Vineyard. Jim patiently waited as the golden berries began to shrivel. The sugars and flavors concentrated and we brought the fruit to the winery. It was whole cluster pressed and fermented cold. The wine captured all the great peach, pineapple, and honey that you want but it also carries an electric acidity that will ensure a long life in the bottle. Because we are only bottling 75 cases, you will not find this rubbing elbows with the cheap sugared wines on crowded warm shelves in grocery stores. It is only available at the winery. Reserve some today because it will sell out before the end of summer. In fact, I just reserved 15 cases for our library here in the winery. Only 60 cases left...oh, wait, I am giving one to Jim too...59 left!
