![]() Torch View Vineyard ...the first wine grapes in Antrim County. Gary and Ann Herzler took a bold step in expanding the reality of grape thinking in Northern Michigan by choosing the Right side of the bay to plant vines. Antrim county has long been home to great peaches and sweet cherries. We winemakers loved the sand of the two approved AVAs so much that we refused to remove our heads from it to recognize the inherent quality of Antrim soil too. Until recently. The Herzlers have squeezed (ouch!) their way onto the scene with 5 screaming vintages of superior quality. Their grapes are impeccably clean, ripe - with acid and sugars in balance, and they burst out of the tanks with varietal zeal. This is the dawn of a great vineyard site. Their fruit will make its LFC debut in the 2008 Pinot Grigio, 2008 Riesling, and 2008 Dry Rose (Cabernet Franc). We are thrilled to work with them. |
